In September 2023, China Mobile launched a centralized procurement of G.654.E fiber optic cable products from 2023 to 2024, with a procurement scale of 1.2279 million core kilometers. This procurement is for a 2-year period, and it is expected that the procurement scale will further expand. Up to now, China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Telecom have launched several large-scale centralized procurement of G.654.E fiber optic cable products: In 2019, China Unicom launched 2971 picometers of G.654.E fiber optic cable and hybrid cable centralized procurement; In the same year, China Telecom launched a centralized procurement of 293000 core kilometers; China Mobile also launched a centralized procurement of 332400 core kilometers in 2022- from the perspective of centralized procurement volume, the demand for G.654.E from operators is gradually increasing. In addition to centralized procurement by the group headquarters, local companies of several major operators have also initiated multiple procurement processes; China Railway Group Co., Ltd. also initiated a procurement of G.654.E products in 2024.
With the continuous increase in computing power demand and the development of AI big models, higher requirements have been put forward for the capacity and transmission rate of fiber optic cable products.
